Monthly Favourites // April 2016

Soooooo....It's May. How the frickety frack did that happen?!?? It's my birthday next week like wuuuuut?? April was a COMPLETE blur. I was super busy with assessment and then had a couple of less busy weeks (which went by like THAT) and now it's assessment time again. Pffftt. Also there were two public holidays this month that I completely under utilised -_- Anyway, enough rambling - let's get into the faves!

I've been pretty low maintenance with eye shadow this month, which is why I've been reaching for this guy so damn much! It's a basic, matte neutral palette that has all the shades you would need to create a wearable everyday eye, or a deeper smoky eye. On the daily, I pretty much chuck the cream all over, the next two shades in the crease and the second deepest shade in the outer corner. The shadows are nicely pigmented and super easy to blend!

Models Prefer Dual Purpose 104 Powder & Bronzer Brush
I've pretty much gone and ditched my Real Techniques Blush Brush in favour of this one for everyday bronzer application. The bristles are more pointed/tapered and slightly softer and apply bronzer like a dream! You can be quite precise with it, but the loose bristles blend it out effortlessly!

L'oreal Nude Magique Cushion Dewy Glow Foundation in 07
Ever since I bought this in the 40% off sale, I've been using it almost every time I wear makeup - every time I actually care about how my skin looks, that is. I tried applying it with the sponge thingy the first time and it was okay, but I just wasn't a fan of the method - plus my fingers started cramping??? I much prefer just dipping a buffing brush (like the Zoeva Silk Finish) straight in and applying with that. The coverage is light-medium buildable, with a lovely dewy, skin-like finish. Lasting power is alright, and I don't get too shiny with this which is a bonus! I just love how this makes my skin look and it feels so comfortable and lightweight!

Much like the Becca palette, I've been reaching for this guy super often because it's just so low maintenance and amazing for everyday! I didn't know how much I would like the bronzer/contour, but surprisingly it works really well for me. It's slightly shimmer (I'd say a satin) and a fairly pale, neutral shade. It works well as both a bronzer to add warmth, and a contour to add a little definition. The blush is such a lovely matte peachy-pinky shade that blends amazingly on the skin. The highlighter is awesome for everyday as it adds light and a slight glow, but isn't crazy intense or like WET shiny.

I've done a whole review so I'll keep it short - really awesome lip balm that not only gives instant relief to dry lips, but actually helps heal and moisturise them in the long run! Super comfy on the lips, not sticky and tastes great too!

Sally Hansen Complete Care 7-in-1 Nail Treatment*
I didn't really know what to expect from this product; it's basically a nail treatment that's supposed to help with brittle, peeling, ridgy nails, etc that you can use as a base and top coat. I haven't noticed too much difference with regard to its healing properties yet, BUT I have been using it as both a base and top coat recently and like, you guys, my nail polishes have been lasting AMAZINGLY. Like, I paired this with a Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polish and it lasted one and a half weeks NO CHIPS, NO JOKE. Not even a fluke either, because my current OPI polish has been on for just as long and only has tip wear! Good stuff y'all.

Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm*
As y'all know, I'm cleansing oil/balm crazy and this is one that's been on my radar for a while, but that I've only gotten to try recently! In a word, this stuff is luxurious. It has a super rich, creamy, oily balm consistency that doesn't really set to a solid solid form like other balm cleansers. This removes makeup amazingly - I can't recall if I've used it on waterproof mascara, but all other forms of eye makeup it removes easily! It cleanses the skin amazingly of course and leaves it feeling plump and moisturised!

Elizabeth and James Nirvana White
I meant to put this in my March favourites but I completely forgot! Ever since I picked this up in America, I've been wearing it every time I go out! It's such a gorgeous, sexy, slightly floral scent with a bit of musk. You know me and describing scents, I try. ;) It's gorgeous though and really melds with the skin? I don't know but I feel like it develops gradually into more of a "me" scent. What am I saying.

Love Peace & the Planet Totally Beachin' Body & Waves Styling Mist
This sea salt/beachy waves spray has been sitting in my cupboard for...I want to say years? I remember trying it ages ago when I had long hair and it did absolutely nothing. Since I chopped my hair off though, I've been obsessed with the stuff! To style my hair, I put a few waves/curls through with my Nume Curling Wand or Straightener (new additions that are also favourites!) and this spray absolutely transforms them into more textured, piece-y, voluminous beachy waves. Especially on second day waves, it totally revives them!

Captain America: Civil War
Okay, you KNEW this was going to be in my favourites. Because I'm a Marvel fangirl and a bias BIATCH but HO U DON'T EVEN KNOW. I'm fairly certain this is my new favourite Marvel movie (aside from the Avengers (the first one, because ew at the second one) which will always have a special place in my heart). This SHIT IS GOOD. The Russo brothers have DONE IT AGAIN. I love that they incorporate political, real-world themes into superhero movies, making them more realistic and relatable. Civil War centres around the "Sokovia Accords" which are basically rules and regulations dictating when superheros should be put into action, and that they should be held accountable for their actions. Captain America and Iron Man then have opposing views leading to the...dun dUN DUUUUN CIVIL WAR. Obvs I am Team Cap because STEEEEVE (and biceps), but secretly I agree with Tony lmao. But the genius of the film is that the audience sees the validity of both sides and really, we don't want either to win or lose. STOP FIGHTING BBYS. Anyway, although this film is JAM PACKED with characters, I feel like it services each character and their powers excellently, and is paced really well. It has all the typical, amazing humour of a Marvel movie as well as the aweeesome action sequences we saw in The Winter Soldier. So, go see it, basically. I'm going to see it again later today and I'm PUMPPEEDD.
