Colour Families // The Berries and Burgundies

Although winter is almost gone for us Aussies, I thought I would squeeze out another colour families post featuring my favourite winter-appropriate hue - berries and burgundies! I absolutely adore these vampy purples and reds on the lips and the nails, so I have quite the collection to share with you all (plus an eyeshadow and a few blushes!).

L-R: Maybelline Divine Wine, Rimmel 107, Seventeen Rule Breaker, Wet n Wild Sugar Plum Fairy, Bite Beauty Aubergine, Stila Aria and Chianti

I've already done a full review on this bad boy so I won't dwell! Stunning formula (lives up to the name) and this shade is a gorgeous deep wine shade with slight brown undertones!

Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte by Kate Moss in 107
I don't think I've talked about this lipstick a lot on the blog, but it is definitely one of my favourites! I've had it for quite a while and it's gotten a fair bit of use - and a few complements too! It has a similar formula to the Maybelline lippie - creamy, matte and not drying at all (but probably not as matte as Maybelline's). The shade is a bit lighter, and is more of a magenta-maroon shade, though still deep and bold.

Seventeen Stay Pout lipstick in Rule Breaker
Another similar berry toned maroon shade! I just adore these shades on the lips though - I find them very flattering and I just feel kinda badass when I wear them! This particular formula is quite creamy and has more of a satin finish to it. It's very comfortable on the lips and lasts pretty well! Most of these lippies stain the lips as well - I find that to be common with this shade! My one annoyance with this lipstick is the bullet shape, the round shape makes it hard to precisely fill the lips to the edges!

Wet n Wild Megalast Lip Color in Sugar Plum Fairy
I know for a fact this is an excellent dupe for MAC Rebel and it's definitely a lipstick that's served me well over the past couple of years! The formula is so amazing for the low, low price! It's truly matte, and although it's a little drier than the previous ones I've mentioned, it lasts amazingly. Sugar Plum Fairy is a lot more purple toned than the previous 'reds' which is part of why I love it so much!

Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon in Aubergine
Aubergine is probably somewhere between Sugar Plum Fairy and Rule Breaker - an absolutely stunning shade! The formula of these is beautiful as well, I swear Bite can do no wrong! It's not the most matte, but is uber comfortable on the lips!

Again, I've done a full post on these if you want to know more about them! A really great matte liquid lipstick formula, they are very matte and last excellently, but aren't super uncomfortable or dry on the lips. The formula can be a little sticky at times - but nothing annoying! I love both of these shades! Aria is a beautiful berry-maroon, and Chianti is a super dark blackberry shade which I adore for mixing!

I don't have any overtly BERRY or BURGUNDY blush shades, but I do have a few in that family, or shades that complement those lip colours well. One of them is Dolce Vita which is a lovely deep reddish plum. It has a slight gold shimmer through it which is gorgeous as well. This guy is very pigmented so a light hand is necessary! I find the shade really pretty though, and shades like these tend to give a 'just bitten' or 'in from the cold' look to the face.

Topshop Powder Blush in Dream Phone
I don't think I've ever mentioned this blush before, but it is quite unique in my collection. It's a slightly more mauve toned berry and a little more subtle and less saturated which makes it a lovely accompaniment to a berry or maroon lip. When applied lightly, it can be quite subtle and not overpowering when dealing with a bold lip! The formula isn't overly pigmented, but applies and blends easily!

This is definitely one of the most intense blushes in my collection! It can look quite dark and purple in the pan, but when swatched the berry-red tones do come out. There is also quite a bit of a shimmery-sheen to this shade that is very pretty! It's definitely not my most used blush, but it's lovely when the right makeup look calls for it!

Like blushes, I don't have any super colourful berry toned eyeshadows, but one of the more burgundy eyeshadow shades in my collection is Burlesque. It's an absolutely gorgeous deep, rich burgundy shade with slight reddish shimmer through it that adds a lovely warmth. The formula is stunning as well - so pigmented but very blendable!

I don't think this is available anymore as I got it years ago, but it remains to be one of my absolute favourite nail polish shades, which is pretty random! It's a creamy maroon with an almost one coat wonder formula!

This shade has a jelly formula which means it's slightly translucent. It's such a pretty juicy berry shade that looks awesome on the nails!

OPI Malaga Wine*
The typical deep red that is so classic and looks amazing on the toes and fingers!

So there is my somewhat extensive berry/maroon/burgundy collection! What are some of your must have berry products?
