Skincare Haul // April 2018

It's been a little while since I've really bought new skincare! I'm the kind of person who buys in bulk and hoards backups, which usually means I have a bunch of products just waiting to be used in my drawers. This haul is probably no exception - these products will probably sit in my drawers for a little while before I actually get to using them haha! That being said, most of these backups were needed! So, let's dive in!

I ended up making another order from Victoria Health which was sort of unexpected! They announced they would no longer be stocking The Ordinary and were selling off their stock. Now, there's been a bit of drama around The Ordinary which I don't reeeally want to get into here but let's just say I'm not as crazy keen on them as I used to be. While that's said, I can't deny the efficacy of their ingredients and their prices. As someone on a student budget, I really can't afford some of the more expensive retinols and serums out there! I've noticed The Ordinary become a bit harder to get a hold of (even at Priceline and online) so I probably won't make special effort to get their products, but if they're easily accessible I'll still buy from them (but we'll see where the drama takes them...).

I'm currently using the Alpha H Liquid Gold which I love, but I picked this up as a backup because I've heard amazing things about it! It's just a tad stronger than the Pixi one which I really like (5%) so hopefully it's a good middle ground between Pixi and Alpha H.

I was getting a bit worried there as I had no backup oils in my stash! I grabbed this one because it's a good, affordable straight rose hip oil!

This was sort of an impulse purchase and I definitely didn't need it haha. I really like my lactic acid cleanser so I wanted to give it a go in another product. Hopefully this works out - I've heard some mixed things about it!

This guy was actually quite a pricey bugger! I picked it up on a bit of a whim because I wanted a backup vitamin C serum. I'm currently using the Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% from The Ordinary and to be honest I haven't noticed a huge difference with it? So I wasn't too keen on getting that one again. After reading some reviews, people seemed to really like this one so I decided to give it a go! It's a stronger concentration of vitamin C and a more oily consistency so hopefully it works out!

The main reason I made the order! I'm actually almost finished my current bottle of The Ordinary retinol and I really like it so I knew I had to get a backup. This is a reformulated version of the one I'm using so hopefully it works just as well for me!

I was lucky enough to be sent Esmi's new Skin Treat serums. I've actually never tried this brand, but their serums looked incredible and I'm so excited to use them!

I've been using this for a couple of days now, in the morning, and I haven't yet noticed a difference but hopefully I see some results! To be honest, I find anti-redness claims to be a bit gimmicky and I've never used anything that has actually helped reduce my redness (which is mainly from acne) so we'll see! It's a gel-like serum that feels hydrating though, and quite refreshing! The minty-ness definitely comes through haha.

I was most excited for this one as you guys know I love a good brightening serum! This one contains vitamin C, licorice root and a bunch of other brightening ingredients. I started using it but my skin actually had a massive breakout (due to hormones I think, not this), so I eased off and went back to my regular skincare routine. Hopefully when I reintroduce it my skin doesn't freak out!

I am quite intrigued by this one. It's actually a very similar concept to my The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution in that it's an exfoliating treatment you leave on your face and rinse off. This one's a lot more gentle though with 10% fruit acid combination, 5% glycolic acid and 5% lactic acid. It also comes with a charcoal brush that is supposed to help exfoliate as you apply but to be honest I just found it soaked up a lot of the product. I need to try it again and apply with my fingers because I felt like I didn't apply enough the first time. Will keep you guys updated though, but this product seems promising!

I'm basically finished my Bite Agave Lip Mask which I absolutely love, and I was fully prepared to buy another tube... BUT! Everyone was raving about this lip mask and I couldn't resist trying it! So I made a Jolse order and grabbed it. I got the grapefruit scent but I feel like I've only ever seen people talk about the original berry scent? Anyway, this one smells divine and I'm super excited to use it and see what all the fuss is about!

Let me know if you've tried any of these products and if they worked for you! Most of these will probably sit in my drawers until I finish current products haha, but I will definitely update you guys with reviews down the line!
